Finding your place in the blogging world

Blogging is such a huge trend at the moment and It's one I love. I have been blogging for four years now and throughout my blogging journey, I have noticed the number of blogs they are floating around. This can be a negative and a positive, negative being it's hard to be original and find yourself within the community and a positive being there's lots of inspiration out there. So, today I thought I would talk about how to make your blog original and how to find yourself within this huge community.

1. find your genre - This is key when you're starting a blog, readers want to know what they're going to find when they come and look at your blog. You need to determine what category it falls under e.g beauty, fashion or lifestyle.  When I first started I categorised my blog as fashion, lifestyle, and beauty which is broad, now I tend to just call it a lifestyle blog as I tend to stray away from blogging about beauty too much and try and create more life posts.

2. Create unique posts - It is great to write the common beauty guru posts, such as makeup tutorials or a monthly favourites but it's always great to think outside the box and create exciting new posts that nobody has heard of. In the past, I started an inspirational stories series that highlighted people that had incredible stories. It could be anything but the thing to remember is new and exciting things often get more views as people want to read something new.

3.  Make your blog stand out - When people visit your blog you want them to think that it's amazing and they would come back to read it again. It's a good idea to really take time when it comes to the design and logo. Your website design is the first thing people see when they click on to your blog, so make it something that stands out for all the right reasons.

4.  Chat with other bloggers - This is always great to get your blog out there and connect with others because blogging is such a lovely community. In the past, I have taken part in many blogger chats on Twitter and they are great, they give you a chance to share your links and your interests with other people and they also share handy tips and tricks on how to boost traffic to your blog, which is always great.

5.  Look at your old posts - This is very useful because by doing this you can look at the viewings and determine what was popular or not. Once you know what works for your readers and what was the most successful you can start creating content with your readers in mind by creating similar things that are popular on your blog.

That is all for now.
 Until next time,
Lauren.
